Sports Trust Cyclists takes on windy CTCT 2019

This was an historic Cape Town Cycle Tour (CTCT) for The Sports Trust Development Cycling Team as two of the cyclists competed as professionals for the first time, and a record 140 cyclists from the programme competed, up from 122 in 2018 and 90 in 2017.

Of the 140 cyclists who competed in the 108-kilometre CTCT, the majority rode with the Nedbank Peloton, while approximately 40 were seeded, including 12 of the programme’s elite development cyclists.

The success of the programme is due to inclusive engagements with educators and learners as well as all cycling stakeholders that focuses on the right attitude, basic training and skills programmes, and opportunities to compete in races.

The positive outcomes of this programmes include - a general increase in the participants’ fitness ability and academic achievement, an increase in female participation and overall it deters them from the social ills of society.
