Mission
The Sports Trust will increase access and create opportunities for all South Africans to participate in sport through the provision of kit, equipment and facilities. Aligning ourselves with the Minister of Sport’s mandate to increase participation in sport in schools, thereby enhancing their educational achievements, as a healthy body builds a healthy mind.
Enhancing Education Through Sport
The Sports Trust was established in September 1995 as a joint venture between the private and public sectors – all with a shared goal of providing opportunities to play sport to all South Africans, at all levels, across all sporting codes.
Since its inception, The Sports Trust has spent over R62 Million on over 261 projects throughout South Africa with a strong emphasis on establishing and upgrading sporting facilities and providing equipment.
The on-going support The Sports Trust Board of Trustees, Nedbank, Sun International, SuperSport, SAB, Harmony, Coca-Cola and Sport and Recreation South Africa, as well as supporting partners the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund and SuperSport Zone, has enabled The Sports Trust to change the lives of many South Africans through sport.
The Sports Trust: A Preferred Implementation Partner for Sports Development
We can assist Companies with their alignment towards broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE requirements). As a Public Benefit Organisation, and NGO, The Sports Trust is able to issue Section 18A tax certificates to their donors. The Sports Trust works within the guidelines as provided by the Government, to increase access to sport in schools, especially in the poorer provincial nodes, giving all South African’s a chance to participate in sport.
